MidAmerica Solar Provides Solar And Wind-Powered Light At Phillips Park.
Columbia Water and Light installed its first dual source powered light at Phillips Park in June of 2010. The wind and solar hybrid light, provided by MidAmerica Solar, has a wind turbine on top which powers the light even after the sun goes down.
The dual power source provides 5 days worth of power when the battery is fully charged.
Columbia Water and Light plans to study the system to judge its potential for park use.
Officials have set no time-frame for a decision to add more.
MidAmerica Solar Installs Solar Powered Lighting of Flag Display
MidAmerica Solar completed the installation of solar panels in September of 2010 on an array of 21 American flags
at the entrance of the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Each flag is now dramatically lit with off-grid solar powered LED lighting. See images below.

Solar Installers Form Trade Association in Missouri
In June of 2009, solar installers from across the state came together to form an industry trade association. The Missouri Solar Energy Industry Association (MOSEIA) is forming in large part as a result of Proposition C, which Missouri voters passed in 2008. Proposition C mandates 15% of the electricity produced by Missouri investor owned utilities (IOUs) comes from renewable sources by 2021, 2% of which must come from solar photovoltaics.
